Takeda Adds Summer 2021 Images
The day-lilies are blooming, and Denver-based art photographer Scott Takeda is adding two new images to his galleries. He shot both of them while on location shooting a TV series.
"With the pandemic slowly lifting, I’m traveling more for TV/film projects," said Takeda. "In consecutive weeks, I found myself in the deep south in the mountain west for television shoots, and I’ve been itching to shoot again. It’s been way too long, and it felt great to hear the shutter firing."
Takeda shot "Three Years In The Making" while shooting a new FX series in New Orleans. It had a sad pandemic back story, and joins the images in his Street Collection. He also captured “You Are Here" (above) while costarring in a Hallmark film. This is now part of his Story Collection.

This week, photographer Scott Takeda kicks off 2020 with an appearance on the new Netflix series “Messiah.” He costars as Mr. Mishida, a Japanese landscape photographer taking wildlife photos at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. When Takeda is not behind the camera as an art photographer, he makes a living as a working TV/Film actor.
“This was a fun way to combine my life on both sides of the camera,” said Takeda. “The producers were looking for an actor who had extensive photography experience, and I certainly fit the bill. I think the only adjustment was they wanted me to shoot with Canon, and I’ve been a lifelong Nikon guy. Also, it was pre-EOS Canon, so I had to familiarize myself with FD lenses.”
Takeda’s episode is the sixth in the ten episode first season. The show focuses on the world’s reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East claiming to be the Messiah. His sudden appearance and apparent miracles spark an international following. Takeda’s character captures the definitive photo of him walking on the surface of the reflecting pool in the National Mall.
The series premiered on January 1st, 2020. It stars an international cast led by Michelle Monaghan, Mehdi Dehbi, John Ortiz, Tomer Sisley and Jane Adams.

"I was walking around Venice just sightseeing, when I came around the corner and saw this couple ahead of me. At the time, they were walking in the shadows, but I could see what might happen if they walked through the sliver of light. (SPLIT, CROATIA) Hundreds of Croatian photography fans filled the Fotoklub Split Gallery in downtown Split for the opening of art photographer Scott Takeda's solo art show.
"This is a big turnout," said gallery curator Josip Ostojić. "We normally have 30 to 40 people at an opening, but this looks to be around 400. It looks like our publicity worked."
Several Croatian newspapers covered the exhibition opening and Ostojić did a radio show to promote the event. Many of those same news outlets attended the press conference that kicked off the exhibition.
"I'm struggling to find words to describe this scene," said Takeda. "Every time I turn around, I see more people coming in the door.
"I initially thought that some were coming because I'm also a TV/Film actor, but no one has asked me about working in Hollywood. Everyone has been talking to me about my photography and how it makes them feel. Without a doubt, this has been a career highlight for me."
Takeda's exhibition runs through September. To see his latest work in his on-going Scene Street Story collection head to Fotoklub Split Gallery at Marmontova 5, Split Croatia or call the gallery at +385 021 347 597.
